La Cornisa Pool News April 2014
On March 19, we received a notice from Mijas Town Hall that they are closing the community pools with immediate effect. We are instructed to empty all of our 4 pools. The news was not entirely unexpected given the municipality’s recent behaviour. In total, Mijas has now closed more than 400 pools and shutdowns continue. Therefore we will partially drain the pools and enclose them. The reason for not completely draining all the water is because the pools can be damaged due to being completely empty.
The purification of pools will also be minimized.
Therefore, all bathing is forbidden for as long as we do not have permission from the municipality. If this is not respected, the community can get fined. So we ask that you respect the municipality’s decision and inform potential visitors about this prohibition.
Regarding the large pools, we intend as soon as possible to instruct an architect to draw up a project plan. As stated earlier, we intend to have an extra meeting during the autumn and discuss the pool issue. Knowing how the municipality dealt with these issues before, our pools will be closed for a long time.
With respect to our two smaller pools, we are still waiting for a license to continue the renovation. Our hope however, is to open at least one swimming pool for the summer.
Do not use our swimming pools
